Connery vs. Shaw: the rematch

I've always found it cool that Sean Connery and Robert Shaw duked it out for the second time in the big screen in this movie. Their first time battling each other was in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, as James Bond and Red Grant, respectively.

Poor old Bob Shaw lost 2-0.

And most sad he (Robert) went and died before they could have another rematch
Would have been nice in a third film Sean was the baddie and Robert the hero

Is anyone aware that Sean holds I think some kind of record for his Characters
dying in his films?

At least Shaw fared better than Tatsuya Nakadai versus Toshiro Mifune. Nakadai was 0-3-1 (no wins, three losses, and one no decision) in Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Samurai Rebellion, and Sword of Doom, respectively.
