Favortie flick, The Ritz (1976)

Just wondering if there are any others who love this fun flick, as much as I did! I've read the reviews listed above, and was wondering if someone would let me know how to find out if this will be coming out on DVD or not! Thanks! [email protected]

I've wondered the same thing. It's time for this wonderful, underground classic to be available on DVD.

The only one I can think may be holding it up is "Seymour Pippin!".

I am surprised by how many have never seen this film.

All I have to say is....don't bring chuck

Some friends and I stumbled upon this at a theatre in a small college town in Western Maryland during its initial run, and I never laughed so hard. For pure farce, you can't beat it. And to my mind it trumps La Cage Aux Folles hands down.

I know it's been forever, but was that 'small college town' perhaps Frostburg?

Hi,
From what i can gather there are no plans as yet to release on dvd (Warner Home Video) but you can go here...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005JO5K/ref=pd_rhf_p_1/103-4600631-2502242?v=glance&s=dvd&no=*

... and vote for it to be released... Amazon let the publishers know how many people have made enquiries so the more who vote, the more likely a release will be.

Hope this helps, in the meantime i'm off to find a new copy, mine is totally worn out!

reply

Thank Goodness for Amazon & Ebay is what I say..!..I managed to find a near mint copy on VHS which for the UK is a miracle as I dont think it came out for long in the 80's...Obviously something holding up its release on DVD as EVERYTHING seems to be out, including many that would be better consigned to the dustbin..never mind one day - along with "Oh What A Lovely War" we may get lucky...

"A Gay Garbage Man? - you never can tell"....

reply

This is a good idea -- I did it long ago and now wonder if it would help to "vote" again! LOL Meantime, I have to make do with my VHS copy as well.

In a movie full of scene stealers, Rita Moreno tops 'em all. Go, Googie!!

It is a shame (if not a crime) that The Ritz is not on DVD.
Someone please put this out on DVD, my VHS is about worn out.
So funny, great one-liners.

This very funny movie is on DVD. I checked it out from Netflix.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

This film needs to be seen at least once a year by anyone needing a good laugh.

reply

Never seen it before but watched a clip and it's got me curious.

Anyone who enjoys the absurd comedy of this movie should check out Olsen & Johnson's Hellzapoppin (1941). They are sure to enjoy it; in fact, even people who like good movies will.

I'm deadly serious about making you my queen.
