Fletcher blew it for Wales

After the Senator says easy redlegs, fletcher brought em all in...Fletcher says all but 1. Why doesn't he just go along with it? But he says he didn't bring in Wales. Well guess they wouldn'tn have a movie in that case....I wish they would do a prequel to this, showing Josey riding with the outlaws.

Maybe that's why at the end he says he owes Wales the first move

I always kind of thought Fletcher was angry at the betrayal by the Senator, so when the Senator sent the Red Legs after Josey, Fletcher wanted to even the score by personally leading all the Red Legs to slaughter. At least this way he could make sure he was there. Remember he said I don't want to hear Josey Wales is dead, I want to see it. One of my favorite lines...don't piss down my back and tell me it is raining. Fletcher used that logic on the Senator and the senator falsely believed it was raining (LOL). And at the end, Fletcher could have very easily taken out Josey, but, as he said, he owed to him to give Josey the first move. I want to think Josey realized what Fletch had been doing all along. I was glad to see they parted that way. At least that is my theory.

Yea I think Fletcher wanted to see how it goes down with Josey and redlegs. Fletcher knew Josey would obliterate redlegs. I did like how Josey walked outside to deal w fletcher...he led him away from his friends in the bar, this let fletcher think that Josey had his gun and bullets. Josey was out of ammo at that point and didn't want fletcher to know that. But did redlegs know the war was over when he tried to kill josey..or did fletcher just ride into town w the news?
