When the family are raided and the music student was beaten to get him to say where the commandos were hiding, in this film they got the traitor to trick him.
In reality, they showed him the severed head of his mother. But I guess that would have been too much in the mid-70's?
The credits at the end of the film say she committed suicide in 1942. That's all it says. So I guess she killed herself and then they cut her head off?
What an amazing sub-plot though. All the resistance fighters deserve our thanks and respect, but somehow her more than most.
