The original ending !

Good decision. I thought a dark ending was right for this one.

They needed sequels. And even in the ending we got, the boy was never meant to smile.

The ending as is is perfect. Such a traumatic and sad film, and the ending just floors you, especially with Damian’s chilling smile at the end.

The best thing is that anyone who cottoned on to what Damian was ended up dying horribly in an ‘accident’. When the film ends, who is the only person alive who knows the truth about Damian?

Interesting. The rare occasion where they reshot the happy ending for something darker. Usually it goes the other way around.

In this case, i agree with other posters that this ending fit.

i would've liked the film either way.
killing the demon still meant another would take its place etc.

agree that the chilling smile is maybe just a tad more interesting

Would have been interesting to see that ending for sure. I think overall I prefer what we got though.
