Why Thorn?

You're telling me that the cabal of Satan worshippers couldn't find any sympathizers in all of politics? Why take a chance by having Damien raised by unwitting Mr. and Mrs. Thorn? Because of this scheme, they lose Mrs. Baylock and Damien is nearly killed. I'm sure they could have easily found a Satanic ally in politics to raise him quietly as their own, especially if they promised additional wealth and power.
