Any other film where the protagonist isn't seen/heard?

I think they handled not being able to show Muhammad quite well. But it leads to a strange situation where the main character and protagonist isn't shown or heard and there are really only supporting actors. The only other thing close to a lead is Anthony Quinn and yet he doesn't make an entrance until 40mins in and is killed off a good way before the end.

Are there any other films where the main character isn't seen or heard?

The Quare Fellow, set in an Irish prison. The title character is to be hanged in the morning, and all the action revolves around him, but he never speaks or appears

I can recall the following film:

Buda (1961)
aka ´Shaka´ (original title)
139 min
Director: Kenji Misumi
Country: Japan
Language: Japanese

There is an actor who plays prince Siddhartha (Kôjirô Hongô) the first half hour or so, but once he achieves enlightenment under the bodhi tree and becomes Buddha, he is only seen through shadow or lighting effects or sometimes in the distance, even though we can sometimes hear his words.

Hope this helps, both films are highly recommended though, Good Luck....!!
