It's going off right now and I finally got to see it for the first time, after hearing so many stories about how bad it was. I'm glad I finally did. Honestly, it's not as bad as I feared, although I can see where this "modern" fairy tale could have been better. I found both Nina and the Contessa likeable characters, and even in her cameo, it was a nice experience seeing Isabella Rossalini sharing screen time with her great and talented mother. It's just such a shame that you had such a good cast (Bergman, Minelli, even Charles Boyer) directed by a great director, and something was sadly missing. I don't know if it was poor job of dubbing, or the feel that the storytelling was a tad incoherent. Whatever the case, I could overlook the problems and focus on this Cinderella-type story. Here's hoping THIS will run it again -- and knowing them, they definitely will!
