This is a great example of how to create tension without resorting to a lot of standard fight scenes, punching and overlong close-ups.

Probably, but I still feel that this casting of Beck is the most accurate to the "one in my head" as I had while reading the novels. Never liked Peter Haber as Beck and I wasn't impressed by Gösta Ekman either.
A young Kollberg by Sven Wollter with a Gothenburgh accent, maybe not as much good casting. But he played a very sympathetic character.

Yes, I agree with you about Gunvald Larsson aswell.
The problem with that character is that I haven't seen a version I really like yet. I know alot of people like Persbrandt, but I don't see him as Gunvald, I see him playing basicly himself. Out of the 3 i've seen I probably prefer Lassgård that played in the 93-94 films. But then again to be honest, he was to fat for the role.
