Anyone have a clue about a certain shark movie I'm looking for?

There was a movie I saw in the eighties on cable. I have no idea what it's called, but this one is close, but not quite.

The story was about an island boy who is the first to touch a baby shark after its' mom is killed. That first touch is an imprint that bonds the shark to the boy who also has a crush on an island girl who ends up leaving.

The story continues years later as the boy is now a man, and the shark is now full sized (I think it was a tiger shark). It is also at this time that the girl returns to the island and we see her dancing in a grass skirt.

I don't remember the rest of the story, but it involved the shark and some great shots underwater of the guy interacting with it.

Anyone?

Never mind.

The movie I'm looking for is called "Beyond the Reef" AKA "Sea Killer" AKA "The Shark Boy of Bora Bora".

It's a remake of the movie "Tiko and the Shark" based on the book.

The one where the shark's buddy gets caught in a net, & the shark saves him from drowning? In the original, I think they may have used alternate species to represent the same specimen throughout the feature. I think the grown shark was a tiger shark, who in real life may have been willing to save Tiko...for DINNER! lol. Movies & TV shows do this a lot-use sharks of different species to replicate the same individual. A shark in Great Barrier Reef, alternated b/n being a blue shark & a tiger shark throughout the feature. Of course the "tiger" shark in Deep Blue Sea had a mako shark's body, but was painted to have a tiger shark's markings. Flipper had a whitetip reef shark that Porter Ricks refered to as a mako.

"Tommy! If they said to jump off a bridge, would you?" "NOT AGAIN!"
