Beware the generic DVD

This was recently released to DVD under the title JAWS OF DEATH (most places carry it for about $7.95, some under Horror, others under Action). However, the producers of the DVD simply transfered a very worn out pan & scan videotape of the film to disk, rather than use an actual print of the film for their source material. The result is a blurry, smudgy image...complete with video glitches from the tape source! I have a small reel of highlights from this for the old home movie projector (stores used to sell these during the pre-VCR days of the Seventies), and my little 8mm reel looks sharper than the DVD.

Do you mean the DVD by Legacy Entertainment? I think they've always been VHS transfers.

Bought the Legacy DVD maybe a year ago, and I'm finally getting around to watching it. I watched the four JAWS films previously. I know this isn't a sequel, but I'm in the mood now. I'll probably watch CRUEL JAWS next, and who knows, maybe THE LAST SHARK, too.

I bought a DVD-R from director William Grefe at a Chiller Con in Parsippany, New Jersey that includes a commentary by Grefe, the Grefe short film "The Iceman," the paintball promo and short film "Consider Us Even," and trailers for the movies "Stanley" and "Cease Fire."
