I have searched through tons of versions of this film, finding mostly the edited version, which i refuse to watch. I am desperate to see this movie because i hear that it is fantastic but do not want to ruin it by watching the bastardized edited version. I want to see it uncut, or at least as close as I can get. I came across a copy of it released from Digiview entertainment, and it looked like a dollar dvd but some of those are uncut. Does anyone know if the digiview release is close to uncut? And how about the 2009 Troma release of the film? Is that the best copy available in the US? I heard the dvd transfer is awful but is it at least uncut?

Yes. The 2 disc Tromasterpiece is the best cut of the film. UNCUT.

Are you sure the Troma version is uncut? With china man getting his head blown off and everything? I'm thinking of buying it, and unless its the uncut original theatrical version, I won't.

Yeah just make sure you get the 2 disc.

So is the Troma version still VHS quality and fullscreen, but without cuts?

I've just watched the Passion Productions DVD, and the disc label says this is 102 minutes but the actual running time on this version is 93 minutes. It's a very bad transfer, and the scenes begin and end abruptly. I'd give this film 5/10 stars based on what I saw mainly based on Dennis Hopper's gonzo performance, but I would consider upgrading if I saw a better version.

Plus the box has this contradictory text: "Beaten, branded, brutalized, but never beaten!!!" So he's beaten but never beaten? How is that possible?

I just watched the Troma disc I got from Netfilx and it is a t.v. print!! Language is edited out, no gun in the face scene. It is not 2:35:1. More like 1:66:1

Currently watching it on ABC Australia (nothing to do with the US TV network)-full theatrical version in widescreen as I remember seeing it in 1976 at the cinema, so there's a copy out there somewhere...
