it was on today and I haven't seen this movie in 30 years(my years) I was on my computer
at the same time and sleeping roomates so the sound was a little low.

Mario caught a bad cold/flu while helping Rynn do a little rearranging. He health wasn't that great to begin with, and the cold Maine rain helped accelerate the condition.
Plot wise, it took out one of the remaining allies Rynn had in the movie (and that was a short list to begin with). He was also talking in his sleep, but not revealing anything.
His cold turned into pneumonia. His uncle said that without antibiotics, the kid might have died...
