Highly Underrated

I can't believe no one has heard of this movie; or that Foster refuses to talk about it. I thought she was fantastic in it.

Well, at least I have heard of it, lol. It's not true that she refuses to talk about it.

I remember something on one of those gossip TMZ like shows a few years back, some fan came up to Jodie Foster and wanted her to sign an old picture of her and she wouldn't sign in. I think she might have even stole the guys pic but I don't remember for sure.

See http://rynnjacobs.blogspot.com/2010/08/48.html for more background info. And also see The Connie Situation, entry #1. I've talked to some autograph collectors, nobody said she refuses to sign pics from TLG. There are so many questions still unanswered regarding the filming of TLG and the whole 'bad producer' story, I really wish for an interviewer who asks her in detail for all theses things today. But as you you can see on the above mentioned site I think she's quite relaxed about these happenings now. One source told me there must be an interview from the time of filming (on set), I didn't found out yet if on US tv or for brit BBC.

Why does she refuse to talk about it? I just watched it on TCM, they didn't even play any commercials, and showed things you wouldn't expect a basic cable channel to show.

It kind of reminds me of one of the Jason actors from the Friday the 13th movies who later said he wished he never was in it. Time later passed and he took part in a retrospective documentary. Maybe Foster would rather people put this one behind her as she didn't want to dwell on the problems she had with the people involved. For fans of this movie, I'll join the ranks of those who wish that she could get together with Martin Sheen for a DVD commentary to learn all the secrets of the movie.

She was talking about the situation in an interview from the time of the Nell release in the 90s, she even talks about the Hinckley incident occasionally, so why should she refuse to talk about a 35 year old film nobody but some special interest groups know about, that makes no sense at all. For most people JF is Taxi Driver, Accused, Contact and SOTL. So no interviewer ever asks for Casotto, SCMB, EOAS or TLG. It would be different if TLG had been in the main competion at Cannes in '76, see also http://rynnjacobs.blogspot.com/2010/11/61.html

I've got a story for you:

I remember in the late 80's, I was watching one of those early Sunday morning religous movies (they ran about 30 minutes and were cheesy as hell) with a pre Three's Company Suzaane Somers. I never much thought about it until the mid 90s' when I finally got online and found the imdb. It wasn't listed and it almost became an obession with finding the name of what I saw her in. I went all over the place and even got ahold of her publisher - who 100% said it wasn't Suzanne. Finally, in 2007, someone sent me a PM saying that he found a tape and it was, in fact, her - with the credits to prove it.

My point? Maybe people are just programmed to not bring it up with Jodie Foster. A solution? I present the idea that if anyone ever runs into her that we bring it up in a nice, roudabout way. Sort of like "Hey, nice to meet you! Oh yeah...can you tell me a little bit about that movie you shot with Martin Sheen?"

I am late to this party but being a flight attendant, I had her on my flight several years ago. She was polite but very reserved as you would expect and I respected her privacy. I did engage with her at an appropriate time and mentioned how I loved this movie and the look on her face... It was immediate to me that this was NOT the movie to discuss in her long storied career LOLOL... Oh well.. She was pleasant but I oould tell that she was not one of the celebs that was chatty, and that was fine.

Saw this movie on TV back in '76 and just now for the second time. Interesting story and Jodie is just as lovable and sympathetic as always. She is such a great talent, I wish she worked more.
