Rick's Mean Streak

For such a laid back guy, Rick can fly off the handle pretty easily. It's apparent in a few scenes in the film: with the punks on the beach, the art collector, and his reaction to his car salesman friend when he brings up what his boss said.

Thinking about it now, I think he gets that anger from his father who showed he has this same trait by blowing up at Rick during the dinner scene at the house.

Like father, like son.

I think the point is that he's getting older, and therefore cranky.

And is uncertain about his station in life, with a job that others don't respect for a grown man.

He has no patience for idiots. Nothing wrong with that.

The 2 outburst I watched, and I only watched the last half of the movie today but his outburst were towards his co worker friend & his Girlfriends top customer, not idiots. This guy was so Chill then he'd lose it quickly. Still thought the movie was fun, this was the Vintage Sam Elliot I didn't know about.
