please help, i dont get the ending

**SPOILERS**

So he gave the baby to the witch? Was she even a real physical person? I was kinda under the impression she was more of a “spirit”. I read one post where a guy said she was like the Greek Moirai and was represented as a witch because of Macbeth. Which there is some debate whether Shakespeare even intended to represent the Moirai with the three witches in Macbeth, but that’s another topic. So how could Keoma give her a baby? And let’s even assume she was a physical being, if I gave a baby to a witch I would expect the witch to eat the baby, not raise the baby into a healthy, well-adjusted adult. I don’t know, maybe I’m over-analyzing it, with these Italian flicks it’s usually better to not focus so much on the plot and just droll at the visual beauty, haha. But anyway if anybody has an explanation I would love to hear it, thank ya

she is death; the baby doesn't make it.

Parallel to the beginning, which reveals that Keoma survived a massacre of his village at the beginning. Now he is a bitter, tired warrior who has lost everything. His line, "He can't die, because he's free. And the free never die" is not a benediction, but a curse-- he's passing the torch of his violent ways onto that baby, who was born under similar circumstances as Keoma. A child will beat death when it is born free, and he will grow up to be a violent wanderer like Keoma.

Just my read. I love the ambiguity of the last scene.
