I noticed that and thought that it only made it more realistic. His friend Doug is also shown often wearing the same shirt.

It seems realistic to me too. I'd wear the same shirt for a week as a child, and I'd change clothes when my mother did the laundry. Do kids change clothes more often now, or is it just something we're used to seeing in the movies?
