Hollywood Boulevard!!

I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I remember it being really weird. It was like a Comedy/Drama/Slasher/EVERYTHING! I remember thinking it was very creative.(In a good way). I really liked it! I remember the Hollywood sign falling or something, It looked pretty real actually, it's one of those forgoten about movies from the 70's that had potential, but just got compleatly whiped out of movie history! I'd rate it if I could remember it better, but from what I remember I'd give it an 8 1/2 out of 10!

One of the main reasons it was really weird was because they were lifting scenes from other Corman movies and most of the plot consisted of just finding ways to link those scenes together so that they made at least some kind of sense :). The director's commentary on the DVD goes into that in some detail.

Personally I think it's a great movie, but I suspect it's one mostly for the Corman fans. I've shown it to a few other people and most of them just don't get it at all, and that seemed to be the response of most of the audience when it was originally released.

I absolutely love this wickedly witty and often hilarious send-up of Grade Z low-budget filmmaking. It's the ultimate parody of down'n'dirty 70's drive-in exploitation features done with a great deal of infectious joy and enthusiasm by a bunch of folks in the industry. If you're a fan of 70's grindhouse sleaze, then this pic is positively essential viewing.

this was the movie (I think) that Corman let Arkush make as his directorial debut, provided he used mostly footage from other New World films--hence, the 'films-within-a-film'...

also: Paul Bartel's 'director' character had one of the best lines ever--
'it's a combination of the myth of Romeo and Juliet, combined with high-speed car action...and a sincere plea for nuclear controls in our time...'
sounds just like a lot of the Corman-produced films back then

'We all dream of being a child again - even the worst of us. Perhaps the worst most of all...'

I also love how it was basically all genres into one. Really fun movie :)

I liked it but I think it ran out of steam towards the end. The craziness of it was great though.
