Bavarian song in the Heart of Glass???

Does anybody know what kind of a traditional Bavarian song is included in The Heart of Glass, exactly in the first sequence of that film??? Was it released on some CD record together with other equally interesting Bavarian songs??? I`d like to know more of it, so if you would happen to know anything about it please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Hmm... I`m not so sure but perhaps you know better this movie than I do. I`m pretty sure that that Yodel starts the film. There is a man sitting and some cows and the yodelling music. What beautiful yodel it is! I wonder if there is a whole CD with such yodelling. I would love to have one. I have been looking for something of that sort but have found none so far.
Thank you kicstadt for your post. It was very kind of you that you tried to help me with that mysterious yodel.

As it says in the text, it is made by Popol Vuh, which is a weird progressive / experimental band that made several scores for Herzog's films. And yes, it has been released on CD: http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/herzausglassoundtrackpopol.htm

I am not sure if it was included in Popol Vuh`s soundtrack "Heart of Glass". I don`t think that SPV remastered version of this soundtrack does include this piece of Yodel music. I professionally reviewed a few Popol Vuh albums in Polish on an unofficial (but the best of both ever exisitng) Polish site of the band. And I have several Vuh CDs. Unfortunately, there were a few songs like Tsintskaro by Ensamble Gordela from Herzog`s Nosferatu that had never been included on any Vuh soundtrack. Of course, I found Tsintskaro sung by Hamlet Gonashvili or Ensamble Gordella but all in all these two versions are quite different in choral singing pattern than the one from Nosferatu. Although Herzog mentions the name of Ensamble Gordela it differs much from what I have on my CD I purchased from DVDRussian.com.

I would love to have this Yodel from the first idyllic scene of Heart of Glass but it is definitely impossible to get. Thank you un-7 for the post. I appreciate your concern. Many thnaks.

I hope that one day I will hear it from CD :-)
Moreover, I would love to hear Bavarian or Swiss Yodel but I can`t find any. Amazon does not have such things. They only offer Bavarian beer drinking songs on CDs.

Hello. I too was taken in by the beauty of this song (of course the combination of the song and filming/editing certainly was part of it). I did find a few tracks that reminded me a little bit of this on Itunes in an album called 40 Jodler, in particular Morgebarg-Jodel, Dr Kienbachler, Sunnebarg-Jodel and especially Echo-Jodel. I just bought these four tracks rather than the whole album. Of course, I would still love to find the track that Herzog used...

I have loved that yodel for years. I finally found the seemingly complete version on YouTube. It's a clip (in the wrong aspect ratio) of the beginning of Heart of Glass. There are many free programs out there where you can turn a YouTube video into an mp3...it's your best bet. Enjoy!
