Who's the chick who wakes up and hears screaming?

I was watching Helter Skelter, and at the beginning, before the dog owner finds his dogs all wigged out about what's going on -- some chick wakes up in a bed. I said it was probably some neighbor overhearing the murders, but my friend says it's supposed to be Sharon Tate.

Which is it?

reply

No, it's just supposed to be one of the neighbors.

reply

Mistake in making her blond.

i agree. For the longest time I thought she was playing the part of Sharon.

Certainly not intending to come off as being smug or anything, but anyone whose familiar with this incident and case would obviously know that this woman was clearly not supposed to be Sharon Tate in the movie as it would have been completely out of line in attempting to portray the facts as to what actually took place on that night.

I guess my friend wasn't a stone-cold expert on the facts of this case like ... well, like he never said he was.

Thanks.

Out of line?

How so?

Perhaps not the best choice of words on my part there. But what I was trying to say is that if the filmmakers, in their attempt to portray the reenactment as cloesly as they were described in the book(of which this TV movie was/is based upon), did indeed intend for the woman waking up in the bed to be Sharon Tate, then they would have purposely been giving the viewers a completely false sense of reality in regards to what took place that particular night. In the actual scenario Sharon Tate herself was very much awake in her bed and was sitting up talking with Jay Sebring when one of the intruders, brandishing a knife, walked into the bedroom and ordered both of them to get up and to go into in the living room with all the others.

I hope this clears up what I was attempting to communicate in my original post. If it still doesn't then feel free to reply again and I'll once more try to explain what I was trying to get across.

and come to think of it...this was shown as people were hearing the screaming going on and reacting to it, and anyone who knows the story should have realized that it wasn't Ms. Tate, as she was in that carnage they were listening to. But still stupid to make her blond.

Considering the made for TV movie aired shortly after the book's release, there are a lot of moments that don't fall completely in line with the facts.

reply

The book came out in 1974 I believe. So yeah we're talking just a mere 2years between the book and the TV movie. One of the main inaccuracies I noticed was how the Tate/Polanski house in the TV movie looked absolutely nothing like the actual house. I believe that it was even a two-story home which was shown in the movie when the actual residence was a one-story ranch-style house.

I bought it via Amazon Prime last week and watched it ... some parts are kind of sloppy (like the detective bringing the victims' friend to identify the bodies and they're nonchalantly walking all over the bloodstained carpet and knocking around elements of the crime scene in the process). Of all the Manson-related movies/shows ... I have yet to see a more convincing portrayal of Manson than that of Railsback ... He nails it.

Those things actually happened. It was a sloppy crime scene investigation which led to many problems later on down the road.

Not to mention the fact, the lady was obviously not 8 1/2 months pregnant. That should've been a big clue. Also, not trying to be snotty......just saying.

Not Sharon Tate. When the family members entered the house, Sharon wasn't sleeping. She was sitting on her bed talking with Jay Sebring. Abigail Folger was in her own bed reading a book. She actually smiled and waved at one of the women (Susan Atkins I believe) when she saw her in the hallway outside her bedroom. Folger presumably assuming the unknown woman was a guest of Sharon's.
