Charles Manson, the family and the murders

I wasn't born when this took place and far too young to see the film. As a fan of true crime books and movies, and have read other books on Manson and his followers, but I've never read Vincent Bugliosi's book or watched this movie. Is it worthwhile to watch? Any new insight never published or spoken before? Is the new version of the movie with Jeremy Davis (looks so much like Manson and very strange irl) better or worse?

Has there ever been a movie made about an individual members of the family? As the newest member of the family, I've always found Linda Kasabian's story the most interesting. The others were too far gone on drugs and Manson BS. But, Linda's story was different. 20 years old, twice divorced, had an infant daughter and was pregnant at the time of the killings. She was brought into the family by Gypsy. She knew right from wrong and had a conscience that the others lacked.

Kind of a long story but you don't hear a lot about the first murder, that of Gary Hinman's, Manson follower Bobby Beausoliel stabbed Hinman in the chest multiple times. The poor guy was still alive after 2 days. Manson wielding a Samurai sword sliced and diced him, cutting his ear, had one of his followers sew it up with dental floss. The girls finally ended his suffering and killed him per Manson's orders. It's believed that Susan Atkins was the one who fatally killed him. The house he lived in is still in the Hollywood hills and reports say it's supposedly haunted by him.

Kasabian wasn't the only one who gave state evidence on the family, Manson and the motive for the killings from Paul Watkins. Another story I'd like to see made into a movie. His backgrounds goes farther with Manson then a lot of the others.

I can't address all your questions, but yes, you should see this if you can find it.

IMO, it is the most chilling account. Even though there is a lot of courtroom, and investigative scenes, they are still interesting and creepy.

This movie really is creepy. Steve Railsback channels Manson, actually becomes Manson, and it is terrifying. This was a made for TV movie and it was a nightmare.

See it. Sweet dreams....

Having seen both versions. I prefer this one to the other. This one is straight forward and I think that Steve Railsback was brilliant as Manson.
