This movie needs a Blu Ray release with restored cut scenes!

This movie screams for a 1080P Blu Ray release, special edition!
It would look and sound awesome on Blu Ray, especially Peter Hannan's beautiful 2:35 Cinemascope cinematography and the cult Colin Towns's soundtrack...

Absolutely! I've noticed a number of obscure films have been released on Blu-Ray, particularly in the U.K., so there's always hope.

reply

I concur. I've left a few posts over on blu-ray.com hoping to at least find out who has the rights to it.

"At least find out who has the rights to it."

The film was produced between Canada and UK but it seems that both companies/studios producing it in 1976 disappeared for a long time ago...so it's a difficult movie to release, who owns the rights now!
I've sent one or two years ago a private message to Peter Fetterman (one of the film's producer) on Facebook but i have never received answer..

So had I and he actually answered me:

Thks for kind message
There have been many companies who would like to release this film
I have been trying to legally say that the rights have reverted to me but with so many different financing parties who are no longer around it has been hard to say that
A nightmare to be sure

With HD version currently on iTunes, I think Blu-ray release is much more possible than ever before (though I don't know how differently digital and home distribution rights work)...

He answered to you? great!
I would love so much a special edition of this on Blu Ray, with Loncraine's audio commentary, a featurette/making of, interviews, etc

Askmonroeville, i've just started the thread on the blu-ray.com forum "wish list":

I downloaded it from there in widescreen and transfered to DVD if they haven't taken it down yet Che k it out! It didn't turn out so bad considering the source and it IS in original CinemaScope

reply

So sorry! I meant to say it's on YOuTube hope they haven't taken it down yet

Man this stink! I looked on YouTube and found good prints but only in 1.85:1 you can certainly tell they cropped it very notisable (sorry Siri sucks) I'm glad I got it before they took it down ... If anyone is interested let me know like I said not CRYSTAL clear video but definetly not bad at ALL all things considering the faces aren't blurry or anything like that ONLY reason not sharp as a tack is the low Meg. Available when Downloaded but I enjoy it each time I watch it for sure and I don't get irritated at all by quality :)
