Deleted scenes after the Cannes screening in 1977

In an old number of "Films Illustrated" (volume 6 number 72,August 1977),the director Richard Loncraine says that he cut some little bits of the film after the first worldwide screening at the Cannes Film Market in May 1977!

Here's what the reviewer of the article says:

SPOILERS

"These adjustements, which to my mind can only be beneficial, include the cutting of a superfluous bedroom scene between Mia Farrow and Tom Conti, the shortening of one death scene (the character played by Cathleen Nesbitt) and the clarification of another (the Keir Dullea character)"

I also remember reading in another cinema magazine (about the first screening of the film in Cannes) that we didn't know what happen to the Keir Dullea character!
Maybe that the director wasn't showing Magnus entering in Julia's house (or the basement?) and dying, who knows?

I'd like to see these "deleted scenes" on a dvd!

It is one of my life's dreams to see a proper DVD release of this film - especially with these deleted scenes. I'm most curious about the shortening of the Heather Rudge death scene. It's one of my favourites. I wonder what they cut out of that...

Thanks for sharing the information, guigui-paul!
