I didn't understand how exactly Mrs. Rudge killed her daughter. Didn't she say she choked on some food? Then she mentioned something about clapping her hand over her mouth.
So Olivia was already choking on the food, and Mrs. Rudge kept her from spitting it out/coughing it up?

Correct. Olivia was choking on food like Kate was but Mrs. Rudge "put her hand over her mouth" so she wouldn't cough it back up, thus killing her. I believe at that point Mrs. Rudge realized Olivia killed that German boy in the park and decided to let her die because of her "wickedness."

shareI was under the impression that she was more 'driven crazy' than evil. She seemed pleased that she had rid the world of what she knew was evil.
