It's on iTunes!!!

Looking at its preview, the print they used looks quite rough (worse than Sony Channel one), but never mind since it's finally available to purchase in HD!

Thanks!
The Sony Channel HD 2012 screening was very good looking...i now hope that this awesome movie will be released sooner or later on Blu Ray.

Is it in actual HD or is it an upconvert? And is it the proper 2.35:1 ratio or is it cropped to 1.78:1 (the size of an HDTV screen)?

I know the Sony version is the 2.35:1 version, but it is also edited (the trachiotomy scene and the turtle murder scene are edited).

It's in actual HD and its proper aspect ratio (2.35:1) although the print they used is slightly damaged and murky so I am almost sure they used one (if not the only ) US or UK theatrical print which has survived and was screened in 2012 at some festival (very dark "Magnus in cellar" or "Lips" scene) so it has "Full Circle" title card replaced with red "The Haunting of Julia" title card. Unfortunately it also misses 3 minutes of footage - it is not a big deal since I think it was screened that way but it would be nice to have all scenes (as in Sony Channel version)... By the way, were the turtle and trachiotomy scenes really edited? I read they were always edited that way as they appear in Sony Channel version...

reply

The turtle and tracheotomy scenes aren't bloody in the original cuts i've seen from this film through the year (tv, vhs, Sony Movie Channel...), the most bloody shots of the film are by far the Magnus in the cellar scene and the film's final shot!

I should have read this before downloading from iTunes, but excitement got the best of me. The print is shortened, dull and definitely in need of some "remastering", and is noisy with a badly replaced title card. Thankfully, I still have the much improved HD Sony print I captured from Netflix before it was yanked. Very disappointed in this "official" release.

Envious of that HD Sony rip you have :) - I still hope someday it appears on the internet (and not just that "HDTV" rip which is actually in SD)...
