The supermarket scene

Who agrees with me that this is the best scene in the movie.

I loved the part when the butcher is talking to a lady about how they have the freshest meat. Then Gus comes out of the back room and the lady throw the meat down, says a few words, and then walks away in disgust.

one of the many funny parts! i remember watching this as a kid and i'd get scared when he fell in the lobster tank.

Yes, I remember when I first saw this as a boy and the scene stuck out in my mind. Also the scene in the elevator where Gus eats the lady's hat (the punchline is a riot). The shot of the Frosted Flakes boxes is a trip down memory lane as to what Tony the Tiger looked like back then. Of course, it is strange that the manager never notices that a mule is loose in the supermarket. Wonder if he was related to our current President (only 1 more year to go). Same with some of the shoppers.

Yes, Conway's character fell into not only a batch of tomatoes, but also a cake. Bosley's character had flour thrown on him as well as landing in a tank of live lobsters.

That was a hilarious scene!

It was funny, but it dragged on a little too long.

Watching the film again, I noticed something in the scene. We see the old Pepsi logo, which is being used again temporarily. They should just keep it since it is very good. Why change it?

I loved this film as a kid and watching it again recently it made me giggle like a child throughout the movie. Without question the supermarket scene is the best scene in the movie. Plenty of opportunitites for laughs and the filmmakers take advantage. Of course it is no classic but I had a blast with it and will watch it every time it comes on.

This is my favorite part too. Even if I leave during the movie I make sure I am here for this part, and if I miss it I will go back to it.

Does anybody think it looks like an old Alpha Beta store?

I remember there was a tie-in with Ralphs Supermarkets when the movie came out. My parents use to shop there every weekend and I remember their paper bags had advertisements for the movie printed on them. Wish I would have saved one. That was almost 40 years ago but I still remember it vividly.
