I just saw the remake on Lifetime -- excellent. I'm wondering about the ending of the orignial movie because someone asked if they kept the same "perfect ending at the gravestone" in the new version.
I'm so curious -- what was that ending?
My tape ran out right when he took her to sit in the chair with her eyes closed at the end--wht happend?
shareIn the remake he shows her a Christmas tree. In the original her gravestone has a message for Griffin. I haven't seen it since I was a kid, so I don't remember what it said.

To the best of my knowledge, it said, "I knew you would come". Then he walked out to the street and started bashing car windshields in with something, in grief, I imagine.
Or she knew him too well, and it broke his heart, perhaps.
IIRC, he saw the message on the grave stone. Then he went back to his car and found the tyre was flat. He starts to change it and screams.
We see the love message they wrote on the water tower being painted over.
