First off, thanks a million for posting the video on Google! I've been searching for it for ages.

For some reason, I seem to remember a different narrator when I watched this as a little kid. Granted that was a long time ago, but I think I recall a more comedic commentator and the name Dick Cavett is in my mind.

Was there a different version?

not to my knowledge. The first time i watched it was in the mid eighties and same narrator but i could have just watched that particular release twice.
