LOL at the chess game...


The pieces never took possession of the square they conquered. The knight killed the pawn next to him amd stayed there, and the rook moved to one space away from the knight, killed him, but never moved to that square.

The knight was at d3 (assuming yellow is white) and the pawn at c5. They fought on the border of c5 and d5. Pawn died and dissappeared. In the subsequent overview shot the knight was correctly at c5.
The rook (in the movie she said castle) moves from c8 to c7 or c6, stops and archer shoots at the knight, he falls and dissapears. No subsequent shots of the chessboards are shown.
Maybe the point was that different pieces had different "kill animations". A move is selected, the piece moves into position and if necessary kills the opposing piece before taking the target square.

I think the knight did, but the rook didn't appear to.🐭

Didn't need to because the piece was terminated and therefore the board was freer to conquer...at least that's what I can suggest. ;)
