This one should be remade!

This is the kind of movie that should be remade. I remember being more freaked out by the marquee poster than the movie itself when it first came out. I remember coming out of the theater and wanting my $2.50 back.

With the technology of today, this movie could be really great.

Don't go off on me as being a "remake hound" I'm 40 years old and have seen many of these movies as a kid. Food Of The Gods sure as hell isn't a classic. It cannot even be considered a "cult classic" It sucked and could use an extreme makeover.

I totally agree. I would love to see a "new" version of this done with all the bells and whistles. Should the story revert back to the original H.G Well's story or be an up to date version like B. I G's film? We wouldn't want another crap fest like Spielberg's War of the World's woeful effort, now would we?

Having said that though I kind of have a soft spot for this film and Bert's other H.G Well'sfarargo, that being Empire of the Ants. (Joan Collin's has a bit to say about the making of Empire of the Ants in part 2 of her autobiography.) My sons who are 10 and 6 love having a Saturday night sleep out in the loungeroom and putting on some of these old cheese fests along with films such as the Land That Time Forgot etc. Films I loved as a kid and now my kids do. I'm glad my boys can still enjoy this type of entertainment (they like old Dr Who's and Blake's 7 etc) and haven't been spoilt by being brought up in an age where imagination doesn't play much of a part in today's entertainment.

They should go back to Wells' original story. Tell the whole story, not just the first half of it, like Gordon did.

I loved this movie. I mean I was around 8 when I saw it on tv, but even to this day I appreciate what they tried to do. We have to remember that these movies didn't have the luxury of CGI and the modern mechanical effects we have now.

I have nothing but respect for these cheesy movies because they paved the way for today's generation.

And yes the wasps were laughable, the worms looked okay but were stiff, but the rats were cool.

No way, the last thing this movie needs is *beep* CGI. Maybe it will look as "good" as the remake of The Haunting, or An American Werewolf in Paris. This movie is great for what it is.

I think it might be delayed or something because it's labeled for 2010.

Unfortunately is being made by a company that specializes in making really bad (not good bad, bad bad) low-budget, straight to video crap.

Oh. Ugh. Thanks for the info!

But with CGI, the rat will really look fake then. Now if they got people do do animatronics, that would be great. too bad stan winston isn't alive?

I would love to see the story done in the era Wells placed it.

The same time this crap movie came out, there was a brilliant comic book adaptation that was in the 19th century and it was so much better than this movie, but it turned out to also be a comic book version of the fifties as well, exact same story and paneling, so I really would like to see it done properly in the correct era and not go after some feminist with an attitude character knowing what she is doing, because that's all it would be.

I mainly enjoyed the bit in the comic book in which the giant baby "eats like a hippopotamus, . . . . and disposes of himself in a life manner."

A re-make with today's technology would be AWESOME. I always loved the ending of this movie. So creepy.

As much as i'd like to see it, i feel like it'll lack the certain 'çharm' that originals have, it's hard to explain, and i probably sound like a nutcase but it really feels different watching a remake to an original, personally i'd still like to see animatronics and stuff if they could do that, however if it was to be remade it'd likely just have mediocre CGI. For some people that's fine, it just doesn't do much for me like good ól' practical effects do.
