so underrated

This movie is the funniest critic to the 70's feminism. In Calmos, women have blamed so much on men, making them satisfy their every desire while destroying every thing they live for (good food and drinks, quiet and good mood, fellowship, simplicity) that men choose to flee to the country to find the essential elements of life again. I find this script very clever, I mean look at what we men have become in the cities, we depend on technology for everything, we keep on subjecting ourselves to things we don't need (huge amount of clothes, shoes, gadgets, oils, lotions, over medication) we're cowards and selfish most of the time and a lot of us are unhappy.

As someone who lives in the country part of the time, I just love this film, it cheers me up and brings me back to reality and to the essential in life. The actors are brilliant, the dialogues are hilarious, many scenes are great long takes with no cuts. Marielle is a fantastic actor, Rochefort is excellent and Bernard Blier is an awesome add as the drunken priest. Yes the ending is surrealist but this is the essence of Bertrand Blier's cinema. I absolutely adore this film and I think it's way underrated, most people have never heard of it even, shame...
