Did anyone else think the mutant baby was cute?

When it wasn't sick or dying, that is? It was really quite adorable! But more as a pet. I wouldn't want that to come out of my girlfriend's vagina!

I agree. I was sad to see it...killed :(

I was sad just to see it sick. I was already depressed when I watched this movie but the mutant baby made me more depressed because I felt so sorry for it. Stupid Eraserhead should have taken it to the hospital.

I didn't...It pretty much cemented my (already existent) fear of babies.

Depending on the angle, I'm either horrified by it or think it's kind of cute...it definitely didn't deserve to die, though. It sort of reminds me of the turtle-thing from that old kids movie, "Pet Shop."

Every time you read this signature, an orphaned puppy gets fed into a meat grinder.

I think it looks like Littlefoot from "The Land Before Time".

reply

Oh my God, it actually does.

the baby was too slick/wet looking and reminded me more of a slug than a cute baby animal.

reply

I dont know if it was cute but... When he was crying and they didnt do anything I was.....C'MON, THE BABY IS SUFFERING DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!

reply

I was actually really happy he killed it. It was important for him, because the baby represented a lot of his distress and melancholy. So, for the sake of the film, I'm very happy he killed it. Otherwise I wouldn't feel the least bit relieved at the end of the movie.

reply

Whoa. Cute?! That monstrosity? Huh? Umm...NO!!!

reply

I felt sad because my take on the film was that it was the result of the corrution and industrial apocalyptica which had engulfed society; the lack of kindness in society, not to mention the potential environmental pollution may have been active influences in the child being born to mutated and deformed. Yes the child wasnt perfect by a long shot, but i still thought it was innocent, and didn't deserve to die like that. Moreover, i actually thought that Henry would have kept the baby alive as it was essentially the only thing keeping a relationship between he and his wife.

Still, could be worse... My nose could be gushing blood!

yes the baby was cute. i have always liked strange things and though the octopus is one of the cutes animals.

I don't think he cared about the relationship with his wife anyways. He hadn't seen her for months and months, then all of a sudden he founds out she's pregnant and they have to get married. They live together a short while and then she leaves him, he never tried to stop her or get her back and she's never seen again.
