Rock Hudson as a Modern Day FRANKENSTEIN(WITH SPOILERS)

Dear Folks,
Who saw this film as a modern day Frankenstein?
Some people slough this off,but I saw it as a very chilling film.
What Victoria did to Diane Ladd(chloroforming her and then giving her a fatal drug)...
What she did to Hudson's son...
What she did to the daughter-in-law...
Also did Victoria cause the daughter-in -law to go into labor(and then use the baby for her means of survival)?
This writer thought the farther this film progressed the more chillingly disturbing it became.
Who can comment on this film?
To Better Days,
BRAD

I've loved "Embryo" since I first saw it back when it first came to HBO and sometimes suggest it on lists at Y!A Movies. Victoria is a wonderful, tragic character, not purely a villainess; it's not entirely her fault, the destruction she wreaks, because her moral growth was neglected in favor of intellect, ignoring what instinct will tell her to do. She fights for her survival, doing whatever is necessary.

I've never been certain about the daughter-in-law. Victoria was studying how to perform caesarean surgery, wasn't she? I believe Victoria thought she could handle the surgery but instead slaughtered the woman and lost the child she desperately needed. This truly is a dark, disturbing story. The ending tends to be ignored by people: Victoria is having his child, and that child just might repeat the nightmarish happenings, even if only rapid aging.

I loved it from first viewing and continue to be a fan of this film, which really is a horror film though subtler than some~till close to the end. I especially enjoy the chess scene with Roddy McDowall's snooty player!
