The Masters of Cinema release is fantastic, even though there isn`t much extra feauteres, there is a 80 page book, and the transfer looks great. A unnapreciated gem, that I hope now will get a bigger audience.

I for one will be getting this one!

The "Special Edition" DVD from New Yorker Video, issued on two discs, is actually 223 minutes long (112' on disc 1, 111' on disc 2), and includes four special features appended to disc 1:
- Moments in the Life of Edvard Munch (11', 1957)
- From Ekely, The City and the Artists (12', 1953)
- The Munch Museum in Oslo (10', 1963)
- Munch's own film recordings (6', 1927, silent)

But New Yorker Video has since gone out of business in early 2009, and their entire catalog of releases may be difficult to find.

Watkins' film is extremely well done, and well worth any effort to seek it out.

The Cinema Guild is distributing the same DVD (Project X Produced) as New Yorker Video was distributing.

All stores should have stock.
