Eat My Dust dvd review... similar to Death Proof?

A late reply, but it's pretty similar actually.
The two movies in fact open almost identically and the big end chase in Death Proof echoes it's counterpart in Eat My Dust in a few ways. Eat My Dust is basically Vanishing Point Jr, though. That's not to undercut it at all, it's a killer movie if you've got your tastebuds calibrated to that Corman/New World 70s drive-in vibe. With the exception of some obviously undercranked car chase footage and a couple of hokey editorial effects masking some stunts that clearly didn't go off - it's a fun flick and some of the driving sequences are still quite impressive.
"Vanishing Point Jr." is an excellent description of this film, or maybe "Two-Lane Blacktop Lite." Regardless of its similarities, it's a lot more entertaining than "Death Proof," a movie made for the moment that knows when to end. It's perfect for the drive-in, which is where I first saw it.
