The whistle thing

Does anybody know if that trick used to calm dogs is real or just fiction.

Does anybody know hw it works?

I think it is fascinating.

My Irish brother in law said he can do this. But I think he was winding me up.

reply

When I had a paper route in my youth, I tried this trick on the dogs. Never worked.

reply

Incidentally; it's not Devlin who does this trick in the novel, it's one of the Grerman characters.

reply

That trick has been used in a couple movies. It never worked on any dog I didn't know.

I figured the whistle was supposed to represent the sound of a falling bomb, so a British WWII dog might hunker down in anticipation of an explosion.

reply

Really, an irish dog is shown on this film ?

reply

It is totally real ... but it is very hard to achieve and thus only a very few can do it. The other thing is that works on more than dogs ... it works on all animals. How do ya think he got that lovely 19 year old milk maid to peel down her knickers so quickly???

reply

Of course it works, but only if you're a drunken flirtatious bare-knuckle boxing IRA Nazi Irishman.
