Questions about number sequence

I was wondering if anyone knew what the significance of the number sequence Viva and Lucie recite? Why do they seem to be looking at the camera when they say the numbers? Is this a literal interpretation of Cocteau's "algebra" transposed for cinema? Anyway, here are the numbers if anyone can make sense of this sequence:
