Never heard of this film before tonight!

It's playing right now on Antenna TV. Only Trey Wilson and Gary Lee Cavagnaro are recognizable to me. Plotwise, there are shades of American Graffiti and Dazed and Confused.

This was on HBO in 77 or 78 and everyone in my town could quote it.

Hmmm...not many people had cable in the late 70s. In which town did you live?

reply

Deep in the heart of Jersey!!

reply

How many cable channels did you have in those days?

reply

West Orange got cable in late '74. We had HBO, all the local channels and stations from Philly and Boston. WPHL showed Ultraman and Johnnie Sockko and Zacherley.
Now I know how to pronounce Bala Cynwyd.

As I recall, I first learned of cable TV in late '78, from a teacher who lived in a different Long Island community than mine. It sounded otherworldly! No commercials? Unedited films? How could this be? At any rate, I don't know when it became available in my 'hood, but my mother ordered the service in the summer of '83. We had HBO, Cinemax, and The Movie Channel, as well as thirty or so basic stations, including TBS, Bravo, AMC, MTV, and the USA Network. I also remember the thick Cablevision guide that came in the mail! Good times!

I just caught it as I was leaving for work. I've ruined my son with all these crappy old movies just so he can kinda get an idea of what it was like when I was young.
