most misleading box art ever...

I just bought this for three dollars at Ross in one of those plain paper covers. Thought "what the hell, I love 'when animals attack' movies" and it was cheap so I snagged it. A truly fun flick. Good gore, clearly well trained dogs and DUCKY! from NCIS! That was the clincher right there... I love me some Ducky :)

Some flaws though... what was the point of constantly bringing up the partical accelerator in the beginning when it never seems to bear on the actions of the dogs in any way and is forgotten about halfway through the film? The end of the film leads you to believe that this is beginning to spread around the country and to the feline population but no real explanation of why is ever given.

Also, the worst Sheriff in history. When he knows a pack of dogs are roaming the countryside killing people, he get together a posse of three out of shape hunters who proceed to do nothing but get drunk and become kibble. He doesn't even try to help the men as they are being eaten, just stands there with his gun drawn looking confused.

One last thing, the massacre at the end of the students...a pack of twenty house dogs (some being big and nasty) attack roughly around 75 students and not a single person manages to wrestle one to the ground and snap its legs? going toe to toe with a doberman might not be the easiest thing in the world, but how hard is it to break a leg and incapacitate the damned thing. 5 to 1 odds on the humans and they all run around and become snausages without a single dog going down... hell, even the prof managed to take one out using his rifle as a club.

Anyway, if you ever see the cover of the dvd it shows a pitbull with glowing red eyes and a sadomasachistic studded collar on while being threatening in a graveyard.... there was no graveyard in the movie... there were no pitbulls that I recall at all... no glowing red eyes to be found in the bunch...and once again, no relation to the experiment that the box describes as a factor in the dog blood orgy.

With that being said, a really great find for a few dollars and I am very happy I picked it up...

Oh, and Ducky's woman in the film is the most useless person in a life or death situation ever... she makes Barbara from "Night of the living dead" (original) seem like Xena. Just a waste of time ever saving her.
