Quite bad

I remember seeing this when it originally aired as a Friday TV movie in 1976. It did leave an impression, but upon watching it again, I had forgotten how ridiculous it is.

"Lorna Love" looks like a 70s porn actress, not a silent film star.

Did nobody question why the "body" was so well preserved in the shrine? (Prior to what is discovered at the end of the film, of course. Regardless of those details, NOBODY asked questions? "Plastic surgery" aside, a corpse will deteriorate.)

Is the age difference between Wager's father/son portrayal even feasible? Lorna Love would have made more sense as an early 50s movie star - after all, they made her look like Marilyn Monroe. Wagner's father would have fathered the son at an extremely old age. Plus, Bill Macy's character would have been born during the silent era - how could he have know Lorna Love?

Also, this "Father Eternal Fire" person...they never explain his presence, or exactly what he did. Lorna's desire for eternal youth involved fire, apparently. But that's all we're told. This "person" is responsible for the director's death early in the film, and trying to gas the Jackson character, I assume. Then he's gone. Huh?

Etcetera...

Glad that the old Harold Lloyd mansion is still standing. It was utilized in an episode of "Columbo" - that show used quite a few of the old mansions built by actors/producers/directors of the 30s. Unfortunately, this is one of the few to survive.
