with the black wig on and a hooker hoots at her and says "Did an animal die on your head? You'll be alright, Honey. Just lose the 'hat'" do you think this scene was a deliberate nod to DAWN:PORTRAIT OF A TEENAGE RUNAWAY?

It definitely was. Look in the trivia section for that movie, it's there too

I didn't even think of the scene in that movie while watching this, but that's pretty awesome. This movie needs to be released on DVD now!
