Mindy, I know where you can get a copy of the film "Dark Victory." Simply
type in "Bewitched" in your search engine. There, you will find many
sites for Montgomery's classic series. Tap into "Vic's page". There,
you can order most EVERY one of Montgomery's TV movies.

Incidentally, I have "Dark Victory" on tape and it's wonderful!
One of Montgomery's finest works. I'm sure you know, but her
co-star is the brilliant Anthony Hopkins. Michele Lee is also
fabulous (her reaction to the news of Montgomery's terminal illness
is so WELL ACTED)! Like Montgomery, Lee is a vastly underrated talent.

Good luck!

Regardless of the movie being bad, it should still be available for everyone to see. It was nominated for an Emmy!

This movie has been on both Cinemax and HBO lately. The last time was 2/19/10 on HBO. Keep checking listings since it seems to be popular again.

The version that airs on HBO/Cinemax is 138 mins. Assuming imdb is correct (and doing the math for a TV movie from '76, it seems to be) the original running time was 150 minutes. My best guess is the copy they've aired is a syndication print, as it's not unusual for reruns of TV movies off of the original network to be edited so they can maximize commercial time (simplified, Lifetime, TBS and local stations usually air TV movie prints which are slightly shorter than the original version). Secondary guess (since there's posters for the film in circulation) is that it's an international theatrical print. Third (and least likely) guess is it was always 138 mins because it originally aired in an odd 3 hour time slot.

IMDB is accurate on many counts but running times of Movies is not one of them.

IMDB also stated the running time of The Legend of Lizzie Borden as 100 min
when it was 96 min. as is the print i have of it from the
original studio 35 mm master print.

Dark Victory was originally seen as a 3 hour mini-series in 1976 and as TV Movies of the week were about 95 min. per 2 hours the time and a half of that equates to about 138 min plus a network promo so 138 min. is actually the correct running time of Dark Victory.

Dark Victory was seen in Theaters in Australia and Europe but the same print was used not an extended version.

HBO only shows unedited material while lifetime, TBS, WGN etc. all only show edited prints.
