Synapse Films announced on their Facebook page on Halloween that they are restoring this film for a 2015 release date. They have been known to release Blu Ray/DVD combo packs, so I would assume that is what this will be. You can see the announcement here: https://www.facebook.com/synapsefilms
shareAs of today, Synapse has stated "Don't look for it anytime soon." Reportedly, the "master" from their licensor turned out to be a reduction 16MM print. Synapse would like to find another, better element.

Sucks to hear that, because CREATURE FROM BLACK LAKE was the very first horror movie I ever saw in the theatre as a child. My mother rarely took us to see horror films at the movies, so this is only one of maybe 2 horror films she actually took me and my-then baby brother to see. It's unusual (for the '70s,anyway) in that there was hardly any gore or sex in it, and it was actually genuinely scary in some parts. It's very underrated for some reason, maybe because it had very few name stars in it and all that. I would snatch a copy up in a minute if it ever finally hits DVD not just for nostalgia's sake, but because it was actually a good little Southern horror flick.
