Jerry Goldsmith's complete score being released

The entire, complete score, along with the original LP rerecording, is finally being released as a 2-cd issue. It is being released by Prometheus. This is a superb score and a terrific example of Goldsmith's wonderful action writing. Combine that with a beautiful, tragic main theme and some ingenious scoring that gives a voice for the plague bug and for the bridge itself makes for a high-water mark in Goldsmith's career.

It's a shame that the complete material is in mono.

I agree. Its a wonderful score but of course, since the film was released in mono, the original material is in mono as well. Its still great news though - I've waited since 1977 to hear the complete score.

The BSX Records information says that Disc 1 is in Mono. But, Disc 2 is in Stereo. Here is hoping so! I plan to purchase soon!

The mono disc is of the original and complete score tracks as heard in the film while the stereo disc is of the recording made at the time for the LP soundtrack containing highlights from the score.
