The scene in the tux shop

Two questions:

A) What was the point of it?
B) Why did DePalma speed up the film for about 5 seconds? Was that his way of saying that what the characters were saying wasn't interesting? If that's the case why film the scene in the first place?

reply

Probably to add a little 'false' humour before the horror by showing the boys old womaning about something as simple as a tuxedo. This is what makes this film all the more disturbing == a little innocent humour injected before the deadly finale. Depalma did that with Dressed to Kill as well.
