small detail at last shot

At the end of the bed as the mother of the traumatized teen comforts her, there are packed bags. I am just wondering what others may think this means. I think it means they are getting ready to commit her.

The mother said on the telephone, it's best we just get away.

They were moving. Those were moving boxes. Although, in The Rage: Carrie 2, Sue does say that she spent some time in a mental institution, but I don't think that happened until after she had that nightmare.
