Serious question- Why did people not feel the need to trim their pubic

hair in the 70s? If I was with a hot girl and saw a gigantic bush like those girls had in the shower scene at the start of this movie, I would throw up, laugh and leave.

Not sure in which order.

I like standing next to you Sean....it makes me look so tough.

reply

For the same reason that, in forty years, someone your age will be equally repulsed by the way you now look.

reply

No I am not a dyke or fat, I just feel really strongly against men being secxist towards us. yes I do believe in shaving legs and underarms and I wouldn't dare go out in public not having done mine, wearing a sleeveless dress (or a dress that showed my legs) however this shaving hair off the vaginal and pubic areas reeeeallly *beep* me. if you want to do it, fine, if thats your preference. But dont' let any man tell you its gross, because its not. First of all, I want to look like a woman and not like a little girl. Show me a man who will only want me with no hair on my vagina and I will show you a paedophile. Sorry, trimming is ok, but like I said... not much hair there anyway guys, not like men and the hair is not even the same coarse nature as a mans. Any over this crap.

reply

I agree with the first half of your post. However, I think the whole pedophile thing is taking it a step too far, personally; beauty ideals are just a product of the culture we live in.

But I'd say the first half of your post is good enough that I don't really mind. It's up to the individual how they want to treat their own body, and OP here was very insensitive in my eyes.

I raised a daughter and know that a child's labia is far different than that of a grown woman. So you can cut the pedo crap here.

Both of my wives preferred a regular trim; they said it was more neat and comfortable.

reply

Liking the appearance of women who shave their bush is an aesthetic consideration, not an indication of pedophilia.

reply

I was with a natural platinum blonde once and her pubic hair was as soft and silky as a rabbit's fur. It was amazing! Too bad she was hefty and annoying.

reply

There are probably dudes with soft pubes, too, but I'll leave verification of that to someone who has first-hand experience.

reply

Because why the hell, (when we women don't have ANYWHERE NEAR the amount of hair as men do down there) should we degrade ourselves and shave and wax for a man? Like I say, you first boys... It itches, it irritates it hurts growing back, and most women only have a fine small ammount of hair in the pubic region anyway.

we are MEANT to have hair there. No women have frickin gigantic bushes in that film, you're a pig. And really, the only reason women started waxing off and looking bald down there like 11 year olds.. is of the porn industry, women have no hair down there, so nothing is "obscured" you can get a clear view. Its not sexy its yuck. Grow the feck up. You make me want to laugh, throw up and cry.

reply

While I agree with your position, and find the OP's attitude shortsighted at best, do you think women should not shave their underarm hair and legs?

reply

do you think women should not shave their underarm hair and legs?

If they don't want to it's certainly their business, just as it is a man's even though plenty of them DO look disgusting with it, but really, are you on average going to be seeing women's genitals AS much as you see women in public in shorts and tank tops showing their armpits and legs?

reply

No, but my question was a reaction to hg_girl007 suggesting that women shouldn't shave at all, and I wanted her to clarify her boundaries.

reply

Totally agree with you.

OP: "Why did people not feel the need to trim their pubic hair..." - eh, because there is no need to ... It's very sad that you feel you have to do this. You don't: just thought I'd let you know!

reply

I shave because I like mine without any. It's cleaner and way more easy to keep clean, too.

reply

[deleted]

@hg_girl007 Because why the hell... should we degrade ourselves and shave and wax for a man?
Jesus. First off, I don't see how it's so degrading to shave and wax. And God forbid women should do something to please a man. Horror of horrors.

reply

I agree. I think maintenance is fine, keeping the area neat. But, people shouldn't feel pressurred to shave it all off if they don't want to. And, FWIW, I have never been with a guy who demanded a bald p*ssy. Most men are fairly reasonable. It's just the douchebags tend to be more vocal, lol.

reply

Boo hoo hooo. Make me a sammich.

They sucked his brains out!

reply

hg_girl (girl?) seems to have no experience seeing or feeling any female's pubic region except for her (?) own (if indeed this person is female; it sounds like it could be some incel boy pretending to be a girl). She or he knows nothing about sex, or what is sexy. hg_girl, please feel free to laugh, throw up, and cry.

reply

Yeah, that was common in the 70's. If you watch like, vintage porn or look at some of your dad's old playboys, you'll see. I don't think women even thought of shaving down there back then.

reply

'I would throw up, laugh and leave'.

------------------
Because we didn't didn't worry about ever little thing like today, and pubic hair was not "offensive" then, no more than how men "trim" body hair today which makes me 'throw up'.

reply

It is a possibility that the actresses could have been wearing merkins over their own exposed genital area, hence the bushy look.

I like hair on a man and not that smooth waxy look, which I can find a turn-off.

reply

Back in the 1970s - and pretty much before then back to the beginning of time - the removal of pubic hair was considered a minority fetish. Only when swimming costumes began to be cut high on the thigh up over the hip did it become necessary to trim back to a narrower gusset, leading to today's trend which is seen as the norm.

The cleanliness issue is a complete red herring. Someone who keeps their pubic area clean is hygienic, someone who doesn't isn't. You can be shaved and dirty, or hairy and clean (or hairy and dirty, shaved and clean). It all depends on how clean a person you are.

reply

The idea that women "should" shave any body hair so sexist bs. Grow up.

reply

I prefer a woman to look like a woman, not a pre-pubescent girl.

reply

On the other hand, many men are intelligent enough to tell the difference without needing pubic hair as a clue.

reply

A woman that is shaved still looks like a woman down there. Anyone who has raised a daughter from birth knows the difference.

reply

I agree. They could be wearing wigs over their vaginas.

reply

A woman's vagina is inside, so why would it need a wig?

I was gonna let you *beep* me, but I got my rag, and I know how you hate a mess

reply

1) Because you could cut yourself,

2) People would seldom see it anyway,

3) It hadn't occurred to women that it might make oral sex better, and their partners would be encouraged to do it more.

OP is a shallow dumb****.

reply

There is trimming it so that the hair is short and the bikini area is clean and there is shaving/waxing the triangle so that it is a strip or gone.

and I agree with the poster who said that people from then would be repulsed at your Brazilian wax. the hair is there for a reason. it is for protection against bacteria among other things.
