As a kid in the early 90's, it was still popular to see. Saw it all the time at Shoppers Drug Mart and The Body Shop, among other places.

Yup it was very common to see in the 80's and early 90's in drug and department stores but once AIDS became such a widespread issue, people started to get strict about those types of things. Which is funny because there plenty of other diseases a person should be worried about, before and after AIDS. However, today people are more careful about those things. Most people would never even consider putting something like that on their lips that other people used before. Also, now days they warn you not to use if the seal is broken on the tube. Back then the lipstick tube didn't even have a seal.

yes. they do it today, but u r supposed to test on your hand or wrist. i have also asked for samples at big chain dept stores where they give u sealed "bubble" pack type ones.
