Great News!!! October 11th.... Blu Ray from Shout Factory

Awesome! New release of Carrie on Blu-Ray. Collector's and Deluxe Editions available from Shout Factory. New special features as well as the older documentaries. Most importantly though a brand new 4k scan of the film from the original negative!! Can't wait for this. Woohoo!!

Great news indeed. It's about time Carrie received the royal treatment on blu-ray.

Shout! Factory, you've done it again!

My copy arrived today. Looking forward to checking it out later tonight when I get home. I feel Scream Factory really set a bar this year with their releases for "Carrie" and "The Thing".

Please report back on the quality of the new 4k scan. It'll be interesting to hear how well they've done it.

I'm honestly in awe of how clean and detailed the image was. It looks like a freshly struck print ready for its first screening.

Thanks for coming back with that. After reading your initial post, I looked up the forums on bluray.com and someone had kindly included some screenshots that made it look pretty good. But they're just screenshots, so I'm sure the actual bluray looks even better. Again thanks for your feedback.

These are only several screenshots on two pages of the bluray.com forums, but I can see that Shout Factory have definitely restored the movie to how it's suppose to look compared to that awful MGM Special Edition DVD and subsequent Blu Ray with the blown out contrasts. Obviously these won't look as good as the actual Blu Ray picture quality on your own tvs, but at least it's an idea of how faithfully they've reproduced it. You just need to scroll down the pages to find them. It's interesting reading through these pages and to learn that the original negative was quite damaged, so Shout Factory apparently had a fair amount of restoration to do on Carrie.

Don't forget to click on the Show Spoiler tag at the bottom of the posts to see all the screenshots that have been included. Only 2 show on each page unless you do that.
