Why did..... (HUGE SPOILERS)

Hi everybody. So I was wondering, why did the house fall down in flames on them both in the end? Made me think something demonic was going on there just like Carrie's mom seemed to think. I found that the most weird part of the film. And I'm sure it wasn't triggered by Carrie because she appeared surprised too by what was happening.

In part for dramatic effect, probably. But also, remember, Mrs. White had candles in nearly every corner of the house. So, you could argue the the flames caught up with the oven's gas light, and set the house aflame.

First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I'm always red.

That was probably the reason I would imagine

My take on it was that when Carrie screamed as she pulled the knife out of Margaret's hand the violin shrieks go off indicating the release of her telekinesis. Only, in this case, she has released more power than she can control, literally causing the house to collapse in on itself. You hear the creaks and groans of the house as if it's reacting to her scream.

Also, bear in mind, in this scene, the stones (mentioned in the novel) were meant to rain down on the house after she screamed causing destruction at this point but the machine creating them jammed causing the production to abandon that idea and just collapse the house instead. I don't think anything demonic or satanic was involved in the story in that scene.

Two seats in the back of the cinema, hazy. Ah yeah, you're forgettin' it and all the mad *beep* we did

reply

Carrie was not in control of her telekinetic powers at all times.
